Roles:

• We are looking for anyone 18-70 years old

 

​Audition Information:

• Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script.

• No prepared monologue is required.

• All experience levels are welcome.

• Please arrive prepared to complete an audition form and list any rehearsal conflicts.

The Story: ​

During a Labor Day weekend in a small 1950s Kansas town, the arrival of a charming drifter disrupts the quiet lives of two neighboring households. When Hal Carter sparks an unexpected romance with Madge Owens, long-suppressed desires rise to the surface—leading to choices that will change them all.

The Characters:

• Helen Potts – Neighbor to the Owens family. Practical, observant, and independent.

• Hal Carter – A handsome young drifter whose arrival changes everything.

• Millie Owens – Intelligent, outspoken, and restless to experience more of life.

• Bomber Gutzel – Local paperboy and friend to Millie.

• Madge Owens – Beautiful young woman struggling with expectations placed upon her.

• Flo Owens – Mother of Madge and Millie. Concerned with securing a successful future for her daughters.

• Rosemary Sydney – Schoolteacher facing difficult questions about her future.

• Alan Seymour – Madge’s boyfriend. Educated, ambitious, and dependable.

• Irma Kronkite – Schoolteacher and friend of Rosemary.

• Christine Schoenwalder – Schoolteacher and friend of Rosemary.

• Howard Bevans – Rosemary’s longtime companion.
